Ruth Vogel, S.F.O.

January 21, 1910 - May 26, 1998

Ruth Vogel’s second book is a collection of spiritual writings gathered from the period when she was a inquirer and candidate through to the time she was formation director for the “Little Flowers of St. Francis Fraternity.” Her writings continued until the Lord called her home in 1998.

Ruth’s writings express her serious thoughts and feelings as a follower of St. Francis and a lover of everything that Christ portrayed. One cannot but think she was a saintly lady; a lady who invited our Lord to coffee in the morning and who walked with Him in the afternoon. She was a person who was a true follower of her Catholic faith; she was one to emulate and be inspired by her immense devotion to God, Jesus and St. Francis of Assisi.

A short biography of Ruth can be found in the introduction of her first book.

Dear Lord Jesus

“I would like so very much for you to tell me what you want me to do with the rest of my life, in what way can I serve you best? Will you please stir my thoughts and direct them into the channels you want them to follow. I must assume that since I am firmly established in this Franciscan role of instructing others in the Franciscan way, which is your way; that that is the mainstream into which I must channel the most important part of my life — this role of going all out to bring your presence to the members of my fraternity — and, in fact, to others where possible — as a LIVING, BREATHING PRESENCE — A REALITY in their daily lives, as you have grown to be so joyfully in mine.”
