The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”[1]

This is the day on which the body of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which did not know corruption despite her death, was reunited with her soul. She was, on this day, taken in full personality into the Beatific Vision of God, past all the choirs of angels and archangels, to the absolute height of God's love.

To summarize how tremendous this event was to the angels in Heaven and to the souls of the Just who were there in the Beatific Vision, and to Our Lord and to Saint Joseph who were both there waiting for her to come: It was like it says in Holy Scripture, “THERE WAS SILENCE IN HEAVEN, AS IT WERE, FOR HALF AN HOUR.”[2] Eternity almost stopped being eternity so as to receive into itself, forever, the supreme gift — the Immaculate and ever Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. She was and is part of God's plan, when He created all angels and all men and women.
