To Start the Day

What can I say to you, Jesus?

Would you settle for, "Lord, I love you?

Or, what would you say to me, Jesus;

Something like, "Just do what I want you to do?

Oh, I hope to follow you my Savior,

I want so much to travel your way;

Right now it is ten in the morning

And I hope you'll be with me all day.

You see, nothing else is important.

Oh, I know I have things I must do;

Things of the world and of living

That is not really centered on you.

But, Look at it this way, Jesus,

I am human and have human needs,

But, I know that my provident Father

Will provide me the tools and the seeds.

Seeds to take care of my physical welfare,

I know I must plant them with care,

And this, I regret, very often

Sends thoughts of you flying elsewhere.

While I'm a part of this earth, while I'm living,

Eating and drinking and such;

While I'm cleaning, or weeding, or shopping

And not relating to you all that much.

My heart keeps Morse-coding a message,

Subconsciously aimed straight at you;

It tells you, "My Jesus… my Jesus ...

I adore you! I love you!  I do!"
