A Thought at Vespers

This day is almost ended.

I look back to early morn

When I awoke from slumber

And exulted! Oh, I am born!

 

I am a living person!

Put on this earth to be

The child of God, to follow

In the ways He taught to me.

 

For, through my Blessed Mother,

Who held Him in her womb;

This GOD was born to show me

True love, through Cross and Tomb.

 

He lived in cold and hunger;

He experienced scorn and pain

And suffered hurt and rejection;

No hardship did He disdain.

 

So, no matter what I go through

I know that He did too.

Dear understanding Jesus

It’s no wonder I love you!

 

Now that this day is ending

I won’t hesitate one bit

To say, the world was much better

Because God walked and talked in it.
