Dear Father

Dear Father and God, these words I say

As I kneel down tonight to pray.

Your Spirit, now, without a sound,

Moves up and down and all around.

Your step I sense upon the stair;

I listen, knowing you are there.

Heart to heart, a glance, a touch,

Dear God, you really are too much.

You cause my heart to skip a beat.

I humbly stoop to kiss your feet,

I raise my eyes and yours meet mine,

You stoop, our hands soon intertwine.

To be like this so close to you

Is love — is life and heaven, too.

Your name I etch deep in my heart,

Like Mary who choose this better part.

That's it, my inartistic verse.

It could be better, could be worse;

But no way could it be more true;

More full of heartfelt love for you.

                                         Amen
